Content

This profile describes the distance to the mesorectal fascia on imaging (MRI/CT) in colorectal carcinoma according to oBDS KR5 (MRI/thin-slice CT performed, with distance to the mesorectal fascia). This preoperative imaging assessment is essential for therapy planning in rectal carcinomas and for assessing local tumor spread.

The profile is based on a FHIR Observation resource and includes both the quantity measurement and the reason for missing distance measurements. The distance is given as a Quantity value in millimeters.

The MRI assessment of the mesorectal fascia is an important imaging observation:

  • references the primary diagnosis (MII_PR_Onko_Diagnose_Primaertumor) via Observation.focus
  • references the patient (Patient resource) via Observation.subject
  • can be linked to a specific treatment case via Observation.encounter

oBDS context

The MRI assessment corresponds to the oBDS data field KR2 "MRI/CT: distance to the mesorectal fascia" and includes both the distance measurement in millimeters and codes for situations in which a measurement is not available (AbstandNichtVerfuegbarGrund).
